underwater records/rebel Butterfly Darren Emerson, formerly the DJ for Underworld, has been very busy with his Underwater Records label (running t12 years strong), producing his debut solo album and touring across Europe and Asia. His only residency in the UK is the exclusive Underwater residency at London’s Fabric Nightclub, and recently he’s signed artists like Joe Mull, D Ramirez, Sharem Jey, Beckster (John Dahlback and David Ekenback) and Magik Johnson here. Magik used to DJ as far back as La Hacienda days along with Graeme Park and Tom Wainwright. Darren’s mix is phat, chunky house with plenty of dirty bass and edgy electro-nouveau, definitely a sneak preview of what’s to come this summer. Magik’s mix is pretty straightforward soulful house that is marginally shadowed by Darren’s brilliance. -SA |
