Blueline Summer Ewan Jansen (Moods & Grooves Records) Deep house is alive. In a time when electro-tech, tech-house, and hip-pop seem to dominate the speakers, it’s nice to hear some fresh and sincere interpretations of this honest avenue of house. Making it requires a dedication that accepts the limits of consumerism, and accepts the urge to produce derivative forms of popular music. There is a tropical theme in the packaging that is actually conveyed through the music, which is, in itself, uncommon. Jansen is deft at expressing his primal instincts, and is as comfortable in riding a song into tribal terrain, as transcending into ambient skies. This is a perfect CD for kicking back, lighting up and spacing out…or making out. Please visit www.moodsandgrooves.com for further insight. —MdB
