It’s been done many times before; record label releases a compilation of rare groove and classic gems remixed by today’s bright, shining artists and DJs, but no one seems to have captured the magic of it all quite like Ubiquity Record’s Rewind! Series. This time around there’s sweet remixes like the El Michaels Affair’s funky jam of Burt Bacharach’s “Walk On By\”, Black Shakespeare (featuring the lovely Charlie Charles) and their soft reggae groove of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”, NuSpirit Helsinki’s stoned-out jam of Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter”, Onsulade’s acoustic guitar and lounge interpretation of Prince’s “Crazy You” and ?uestlove (of The Roots) and his Randy Watson Experience project’s soulful reprise of Sting’s “Be Still My Beating Heart”.
