Up, Bustle & Out–City Breakers: 18 Frames Per Second (Collision Cause of Chapter 3/Groove Attack) DOWNTEMPO CD: Up, Bustle & Out–City Breakers, 18 Frames Per Second
One of the best and original artists to ever grace the books of Ninja Tune, UBO’s founding members Clandestine Ein (a.k.a. DJ D “Ein” Fell) and Rupert Mould (a.k.a. Sêenor Roody, Rupert del Monte Azul) have spent most of their journey dancing with the Cubans and Latinos, but since their last album Urban Evacuation and now City Breakers, they’ve found a new love in Jamaica. There’s always an underlying groove of funk, hip hop, turntablism and soul to their music, but the spaced-out dub reggae vibe is working out quite superbly. Wicked vocal contributions by Roni Size vocalist MC Nicky Blaze, Black Roots—Ras Jabulani, Jamaican DJ Mexican and Nitin Sawhney on percussion. —Rusty
