Sacha Dean Biyan- When Skin Is InWords: Viviane Kertesz Shutter: Sacha Dean Biyan Photgraph by Montreal born Sacha Dean Biyan Bondage, beauty and breasts are leitmotifs, and every shot is arresting. When it comes to Sacha Dean Biyan's fashion photography, skin is clearly in, and dominatrix-esque, scantily clad model-perfect bodies are shown in provocative poses that are often outlandish, often macabre, but always unforgettable. Couple his hot pix with some cool house beats, and you've got Dessous presents Eccentris: Skin Is In, the new CD-compilation and photography collection by Biyan and sundry international DJs.
The classy, atmospheric music is compiled by Dessous Recordings' label head Steve Bug, while the second CD is mixed by Âme (from Sonar Kollektiv). Skin Is In features a diverse blend of styles--from lascivious tunes to downtempo rhythms to pulsating dance floors anthems--including tracks and remixes from well-reputed house producers like Charles Webster, Château Flight, Nathan Fake, Phonique, I:Cube, Ilya Santana, Marcus Worgull and more. A born Montrealer, Biyan spent most of his life hopping between continents. He began his love affair with the camera at 15, but traveled down a long and unconventional road involving a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering. His images have appeared in magazines like Vogue and GQ, and his latest release is preoccupied with themes like voyeurism, dreams and the media-driven, reality-TV culture of overexposure that we live in. Unafraid to expose a little t&a in a stylish way, Biyan plays with colour, light, masks, mirrors, high heels, age and sex appeal in this riveting, masterful collection. The double-album includes a full-colour 36-page photo-catalogue that pushes the envelope on all kinds of conventional boundaries, but the highlight is the interactive bonus content on the first CD, an uncompressed version of the Eccentris website featuring Biyan's visionary imagery. If you like eye candy that showcases desire, fantasy and surprise, run-don't-walk to check out Biyan's work at www.eccentris.com, or pick up this album of deep, sexy house music with cutting-edge visual appeal that will linger in your loins long after you've stopped listening and looking.
